Backing Up Your Data!

During the 2019-2020 School year, we will be be installing Office 365 to teacher computers.  This will trigger an automatica login/backup through OneDrive, so you may not have to do this manually.

There are several ways to backup your data.  Some might prefer saving data to a flash drive or external hard drive, others might email things to themselves.  While they may get the job done, these methods are either prone to failure due to physical effects (water, blunt force, wear & tear), or they’re just too cumbersome.  The Flour Bluff ISD Technology Department provides staff members and students with two solutions:  Microsoft OneDrive and Google Drive.

Both services provide:

  • Off-site redundant backups (your data is backed up to multiple servers in multiple data centers)
  • 24/7/365 availability and accessibility to your files from anywhere
  • Ability to automatically backup and restore your computer’s important folders (i.e., Desktop, Documents)
  • Ability to share files with co-workers and colleagues
  • Team Drives – Separate storage spaces for specific teams (i.e. Curriculum, Yearbook) to perpetually store and share data without having to worry about file/folder ownership when someone leaves.
