Have you ever sat in front of your computer typing something and thought, “Golly gee whiz, I sure wish I could add emojis to this. Its too bad that stuff’s only on my iPhone (or Android device).” Windows 10 has an emoji keyboard!
Fun Fact: “Emoji”comes from the Japanese word (*surprise*) “emoji” (絵文字); e (絵, “picture”) + moji (文字, “character”). It is also commonly interpreted as a mixed Japanese + English word; emotional character (ji).
Emojis can help us as staff members, educators (or just plain adults) connect with the youth, or help capture their attention a little more during some lessons. Its super easy, don’t worry.
- Create or open a Word Document (or PowerPoint)
- Click somewhere to add text like you normally would, then press Windows key ( )+ Period and click the emojis you want to use! The menu looks like this
If you’re looking for something specific, you can type a word (i.e., “cake”) while the emoji menu is open.
